Little Flowers Camp

Frequently Asked Questions

We have found that the age range brings out the best in the girls. The older girls are role
models and leaders for the younger ones and the younger girls demonstrate maturity
and independence as they take on the responsibilities of being part of a team (cabin).
Many activities are broken up by age groups, such as talks geared to different levels, etc.

Counselors must be at least 17 years old and have attended camp in the past. To apply,
email the director with a paragraph with a description of how the the camp experience
has benefited them and what they hope to contribute. Counselors can serve for two
years and do not pay for the week at camp. Counselors and staff come a day early, to
clean, decorate and prepare for the campers.

After serving as a counselor for two years, girls may volunteer to come back to serve on
the staff. The young adults who volunteer model the spirit of camp, sharing their
talents, energy, joy and faith to make camp truly wonderful! All staff are required by the
Diocese of Santa Rosa to stay up to date with fingerprinting and Safe Environment
training. We are blessed to have a great crew in the kitchen under the leadership of our
head cook, Vanessa. Those who would like to volunteer should check with the camp
leadership. Help with clean-up on the last day is always welcome!

Our assistant cook monitors medications. They are kept on a shelf in the kitchen and are
taken under her supervision. Please be clear about the instructions or speak with her
directly when you bring your daughter to camp.

We are able to accommodate special dietary needs. Our cook works in a school cafeteria
and is experienced at managing all types of dietary restrictions. Please let us know about
your daughter’s allergies when you fill out the registration form. We will call you if we
have questions or if we need you to send something (like a special treat or snack) for
your daughter.

The “To Bring” List is on the brochure and may be updated by email if we think of any
add-ons specific to this year’s camp. We recommend layers for clothing as it can get cold
in the evenings. Please abide by the camp’s recommendation for modest attire.

Please do not send candy or treats. If you have something special that you would like to
provide for all the girls, please let us know. The only other exception would be if your
daughter has dietary restrictions and then her desserts/snacks would be kept in the
kitchen. Treats are an important part of camp but need to be monitored by staff.

The cabins are not actual cabins, but large rooms that hold seven to eight campers, of
mixed ages. The girls do many activities with their cabins, but also many that are broken
up by age groups. We try to mix up the groups to promote new friendships. Saving seats
at meals is also discouraged because all girls need to feel welcome and included. We do
pay special attention to making new girls feel welcome by putting someone in their
cabin that they know.
